Big Brother 16 Ratings: Week 1 Starts Strong!
|We have, kind of, finished Week 1 on Big Brother 2014 and it looks like the Big Brother 16 ratings are off to a good start, which has CBS very happy! Three episodes in and it looks like the Big Brother fans are still coming out to watch the new season, despite some bad times during Big Brother 15. There is hope for Big Brother 16! Get the numbers below in my Big Brother 2014 spoilers!
For the Wednesday night premiere, things kicked off strong with 6.6 million viewers and a 2.3 ratings for adults 18-49, which is the key demo that advertisers love! This was up a tad bit from the Big Brother 15 premiere last season.

To go with that, the second night of the premiere on Thursday did just as well and matched what the numbers were on Wednesday, with a 2.3 adult rating and 6.6 million viewers.
We did see a little dip for the Sunday night show, as they pulled in 5.76 million viewers and a 1.8 adult rating. However, who really watches the Sunday night show? That is normally one of the lower rated shows of the week, as everyone wants to see the real action on Thursdays!
Either way, it is a good start to Big Brother 16 and I am glad to see it. Now if the HGs can spice it up a little, those numbers might get even higher for CBS!

That 18-49 age range….. is that the original target audience for BB?
Not sure, but it is the target demo for most advertisers, which pay for a lot of the shows to remain on the air.
I’m a little out of the age range. Ok a LOT out of the age range. But that doesn’t bother me. I’m sure there are quite a few of us that stretch the age boundaries in both directions. Doesn’t mean i can’t enjoy the show. Or buy the advertised products. I’m still young at heart. And if i want to watch SpongeBob SquarePants from time to time, i intend to. And likewise with BB.
Its not the date on the paper but the way you feel inside. I am on the top end of that range but feel 25. I too watch the occasional Mr. Squarepants but have introduced my kids the the Gillians Island reruns on TV Land. Its great
I agree. I am almost at the end of that range with a handful of years to spare. You’re only as old as you feel and for me that varies from day to day LOL.
Yeah, they base so much on that age range….who knows why! CBS tends ot draw a different crowd though, so I don’t think they pay attention to it as much
What I find interesting and very off the wall funny is my neighbor two houses down is occupied by a couple; he is 72 and she is 79; retired school principal. They are glued to the BB series and apparently have been for some time. I knew he was into survivor to some degree as he wears a Survivor head band near every time I see him. My BB info is from our neighborhood gossip (every place has one: no hiding from that) and she says she writes to CBS, has her daughter find out specifics, and roots for her favorites in first class style. Take your life in your hands if you dare call that house during showings!
A story goes she called the mayors office and chewed his butt out in spades because the power went out during a BB showing! lol Now that is MY idea of a BB fan. Pushing age 80, takes no crap from anyone, and gets around like a 50 year old. What is not to be envied about that? Did I tell you she has a room dedicated to BB: everything (pictures, articles, etc) from BB1 to date.
I am going to contact our “miss-gossip” this week and see what she has gathered how this aged lady feels about BB16 thus far. Might be some good stuff to share. This is one sharp lady, no doubt. Great collection of people in my neighborhood, thank goodness it is gated or some of the wandering old folks would be found at the ocean surfing! lol In reality, we have a neighborhood “family” with kids of all ages that keep an eye on others in a very unselfish way. 24/7 neighborhood watch. Our mini/modest version of BBconfinement. I am anxious to find our who she predicts as a winner. Not that close, but I have been told her record is somewhat amazing and accurate.
What a wonderful, heartwarming story, and I’m glad to shared it with us. Does this lady have a computer? It would be awesome if she commented on here.
She could be my mother. 🙂
Love it! Keep us posted.
That is pretty awesome. Would be great if she commented with us here.
I agree Cat. I am out of the age range as well, but I will always be watching.
I am way out of the age range as well.
What’s Age Got to Do with It. I love Big Brother , been watching it for a long time and always will. I will have you know that not only do I occasionally watch Sponge Bob Square Pants but Authur, Angelina Ballerina, Curious George and a few others as well. So there.
SpongeBob SquarePants. LOL…come on must be something better.
Watching live feeds, Joey told Hayden about Team America. OMG,This girl is so new to the game it’s not funny. Did she not learn anything from exposing the girl’s alliance? I think it will work against her.
“Stupid is as stupid does” – saying from the movie Forrest Gump.
LoL, Mary, I agree.
“Life is a like a box of chocolates” – also from Forrest Gump. Just like in the BB house, some are sweet and some are completely nuts!
LOL, Cat, I like I like!
In keeping with the Forest Gump theme..
Something jumped up and bit her in the buttocks! (her gameplay) LOL
OMG JO1, You guys are killing me! funny funny funny!! love it.
What category would you put me in (jan jan)
Do you even need to ask me that question? 🙂 🙂 🙂
I guess not, I forgot who I was talking too….My long lost sister
That pretty much seals the deal on her eviction. I doubt even the powers that be would attempt to save her now.
I would say so as well Cat, she is gone from the house.
Actually i just read that she is allowed to tell. It’s up to her whether or not to. It’s a last ditch effort by her to save her behind. She’s saying she has a “special power” and will use it to keep others safe if she stays. She told all this to Hayden so we will see how much of a “carrier” he is.
Cat, I am sitting thinking ,I really like Joey and would to see her stay in the game a while longer. She is new to the game and is not very good at it (the dumb move she made by revealing the girl’s alliance proved that) but it’s nice to see that she is finally campaigning to stay in the game. I know she has the choice on weather or not to reveal her Team America “special power” Now that she has… more power to her and It’s nice that she is doing it “Adel style”. Do you remember when Adel of BBC2 took his tiny veto power to another level that kept him in the game for weeks longer? That was masterful. Now that she has made her move, I would love for it works out for her. I only wish she had moved sooner.
Yes i remember in BBC2 how Adel went from zero to hero when he lied about his veto. In the beginning it was the smart thing to do. The only thing is Joey doesn’t have a veto. Actually i’m not even sure WHAT she has at this point. Does Team America mean we get to decide who she puts up if HOH? Or who she votes to evict? There are so many things left to learn about this twist. And being able to tell other hgs about it kind of ruins it for me. If we DO get to decide who she noms or evicts, she only has to say “America made me do it”. Which means she’s playing OUR game….not hers. And that sort of defeats the purpose of “no outside influence” in the game. Honestly i can see this twist going down the drain. So….if i were her i’d use it while i could. It’s the only shot she has at this point.
Cat, I believe it’s about Team America creating an alliance with some GHs then send on missions that will impact the game throughout the summer. Personally, I do like when they a little voters twist in the game and shake it up a bit. For me it makes for a more interesting game.
I was just about to ask “can she do that?!”
If she was smart she would use it in a way that would make the hg’s think that america has a lot of power in this game (even if we don’t) and if they send her home america would be upset and it could affect the ones who send her home….something like that
JO1, Unfortunately, I don’t think she is that game savvy/smart.
