We started tonight’s finale off with a look at the Boston Rob and Sandra reflecting on this season of Survivor and how this show has changed their lives. Back on the beach, a boat pulls up and the Final Five are confused as to why there is a boat on their beach. They get handed a note that says to grab all of your belongings and get on the boat. They are all curious as to what is going to happen next.

Tommy is the only one of the five that didn’t make it to the Island of the Idols throughout the season. Boston Rob and Sandra tell the castaways that for the rest of the game, the castaways will live on Island of the Idols in the house that Rob and Sandra built. They were also given special Island of the Idol buffs for making it this far. Rob tells us that what they don’t know is that they aren’t leaving without one last lesson.

Janet is guaranteed Final Four because she has an idol in her pocket and she tells us that she thinks that she can beat any of them in building fire so she can see Final Three. Noura and Dean are talking about how Janet is the biggest threat, but Dean is a weasel and she wants Dean gone first. While Janet is feeding the chickens, the camera focuses on a red board that Janet is standing on. Meanwhile, Tommy is laser-focused on the new buff and he noticed that there is a machete in the design which has never been there before. Tommy then finds a machete in a coconut, the inside of the coconut is also red, but Tommy is color blind and asks for Dean’s help.

Now Tommy is looking for something the same color because he thinks the color is a clue. He finds the board that Janet was standing on and sees an “H” carved in the bamboo underneath it. Tommy asks Dean for help again deciphering this new clue, but Dean hasn’t really been helping Tommy look. Dean tells him that he will help him, but he doesn’t plan on helping anyone but himself. Dean then tells us that he thinks that the “H” was really the swing that is attached to the house and near the swing, he sees the symbol again. When no one is around, Dean goes back to look and finds that there is an idol inside the bamboo behind the symbol and a note from Sandra and Rob that tells him that he won the final test.

It is time for the Immunity Challenge and Reward! The castaway that wins will not only win immunity but will also get a steak dinner back at camp (vegetarian options available). The castaways will have to knock ropes down with a stick that will be used to build a rope ladder. They will then climb the ladder and then maneuver a bag of balls up a pole and then climb to the top. They then have to put the balls onto a table maze and sink them all into their spots on the board.

All of the castaways make it to the top and Tommy already has a ball in place. Janet has a ball in place. Dean lands the more difficult one first and then goes back for the easy one. Lauren gets her first one. Dean sinks his second ball and wins immunity and the steak dinner! Dean is told that he can take one other castaway with him and he chooses Noura. He tells Jeff that this is his way for him to make amends with her, Lauren tells us that he is clearly doing Jury Management.

Dean tells Noura that if she wins tomorrow, she will take him with her. Dean now has a Final Two with Tommy and Noura. They talk about trying to get Janet out tonight, but what they don’t know is Janet has an idol and this Tribal Council is the last time she can use it. Janet is talking to Tommy about getting all the votes on her, Janet plays her idol and Janet’s going to vote Lauren. Janet and Tommy also make a deal to take each other, but Tommy goes back to Lauren and tells her about Janet’s idol. Dean has an idol nullifier though and if Dean plays the nullifier then Lauren will stay and Janet will go. Dean is worried that Janet and Lauren are both threats to him and his game. Tommy is worried about Dean using the nullifier though. It’s going to be an interesting Tribal!

It is time for Tribal Council! After the votes are in and tallied, Jeff asks if anyone has an immunity idol and wants to play it, now would be the time. Janet plays her idol for herself, but Dean has played his Idol Nullifier against Janet so her votes have no power. Here are the votes:

  • Lauren
  • Janet
  • Janet
  • Janet

With three votes, Janet has been voted off Survivor. No one wanted to go against her in the fire-making challenge.

Dean is worried about the fire-making challenge because he can’t make fire. Tommy is telling Noura that he can’t make fire either and he is nervous that he isn’t going to win this challenge and will be sent home. Tommy then starts to badmouth the other castaways to make him look better.

It is time for the final Immunity Challenge of the season! The castaways will have to stack letter blocks on a wobbly platform. The first castaway to spell out Island of the Idols will win Immunity and have the choice of who to take with them to Final Three. The other two will then have to battle it out in a fire-making challenge.

Dean gets his first word, Noura is right behind him. He gets his second word up and Noura gets her second word shortly after he does. Dean drops a letter, but Noura gets her third word up. She is down to the final five letters. Lauren and Tommy are having no luck at all with their blocks. Noura is down to the last letter, but Dean is right behind her. Dean then loses a few of his blocks as Noura tries to lock in her letters. Noura manages to get all her letters up and her mechanism locked in place. Noura wins the final Immunity Challenge of the season and has cemented her spot in the Final Three.

Noura tells Tommy, Lauren, and Dean what her plan is, but no one has any idea what she is talking about because she is talking a million miles an hour. Noura tells Lauren that she has to put her to fire because she is a big threat and everyone sees her like that. Lauren is worried about who she is going up against. Noura tells Tommy that the only reason she is still there is because of Tommy and she tells Dean that she knows that he can make fire and she sees Lauren as a bigger threat.

Tommy coaches Lauren on how to make fire and tells us that if he is thinking with his heart, he wants to see Lauren win. However, he thinks that he has a better chance of winning without Lauren in the game because they have made big moves together. Tommy then shows Dean how to make a fire and gives him more pointers than he gave to Lauren in hopes that Dean will beat her in the challenge.

It is now time for Noura to make her decision in front of the jury. Noura tells Jeff that her plan is to put Lauren in the Fire-Making Challenge and that Dean will go up against her because she knows that Dean can make fire (he can’t do it as well as Noura thinks he can). Her goal is to take Lauren out. Dean gets a small flame first, which turns into a pretty big fire pretty quickly. Lauren gets a flame and starts to add kindling to it to try and build it up.

Dean’s fire is bigger than Lauren’s but it’s not blowing under the rope. He is finally able to switch its direction and he burns through his rope first. Lauren is officially the final member of the jury. Dean tells everyone that before tonight, this was the first time he built a fire. Noura, Tommy, and Dean will now face the jury!

The jury asks each of the Final Three a series of questions about the outwit, outplay, and outlast sections of the game. After all of the talking with the Final Three, we head into the vote. The votes are tallied and we head to the studio audience in LA to find out which of these three will win the title of Sole Survivor and the grand prize of one million dollars! Here are the votes:

  • Tommy
  • Dean
  • Tommy
  • Dean
  • Tommy
  • Tommy
  • Tommy
  • Tommy

With six votes, Tommy is the winner of Survivor: Island of the Idols! Sia also chose her favorite castaways for this season. Sia gifted Jamal ($15,000), Elaine ($100,000) and Janet ($100,000) this season.
