We started the night off with all the returning castaways meeting Jeff on the beach. Sandra is shocked to see Boston Rob here because they just spent 36 days together on season 39 and he didn’t tell her that he was competing again. She is feeling pretty betrayed. Jeff asks some of the castaways what it feels like being back and then they toast to Survivor: Winners at War! After their toast, the castaways get their buffs and start dividing up into their tribes. You can find the who is on Sele and who is on Dakal right here!
The castaways are all told that there is a new currency being introduced into this season called fire tokens, each of them will get one to start. If they are voted off, they will give their token to another castaway and then head to Edge of Extinction where they will wait for a chance to get back into the game. They are then told that they will now compete in their first challenge! This challenge is a reward challenge where the winning tribe will get a fire-making kit, but that’s not all. It’s also an immunity challenge where the losing tribe will be sent to Tribal Council.
In this challenge, two castaways from each tribe will be swimming out to a tube hanging from a pole. They will have to knock it down and bring it to their color-coordinated pole to score a point. Dakal (red tribe) scored the first two points in this challenge, Boston Rob got the first point for Sele. In the fourth round, Dakal is able to overpower the Sele tribe and score their third point and win the challenge. Jeff sends them to their camp and tells Sele that they will not have fire or rice until after Tribal Council, which isn’t going to happen that night, but the following night. Which member of Sele will be heading to Edge of Extinction first?
When the castaways get to their camp, they are told that they can use their fire tokens to purchase things for their camp. Comfort items, food, etc. The castaways start building their shelters together and getting to know each other. Denise and Adam walk-off alone and start talking about how they are nervous about this Tribal Council and Denise implies that she wants to work with Adam. In the meantime, everyone has realized that they are off alone together which has put a target on their back. Meanwhile, on the other camp, Tony isn’t taking any chances with walking off and looking for an idol. Amber is a little emotional about not being on the same tribe as Rob.
Yul tells Sophie that he would like to work her, Boston Rob and Parvati are talking about working together also. Boston Rob tells her that he thinks they should work slow at the start, he doesn’t want to have a target on his back early on. Now it’s time to talk about Tribal Council. Ben goes off to talk to Boston Rob and Jeremy about whose names have been thrown out. Ben tells Boston Rob that Danni mentioned his name because of how many times he has played the game and how many connections he has on the island. He went to talk to Danni and she tells him the truth and he appreciates her telling him and puts together another alliance with him, Danni, Ethan, and Parvati.
The Sele tribe is still trying to figure out who they are going to be voting for during the first Tribal Council of the season. Most of them start talking about Denise and Adam because they walked off and disappeared for a while when they first got to the island. Ben pulls Adam aside to talk to him about their names being put out there, but Adam thinks that Jeremy and Natalie need to be split up due to them having an existing relationship going into this game. Rob and Parvati are probably the biggest targets in their tribe, but they tell each other they actually feel kind of safe at this point. Which is crazy to them. Who will be going to EOE? Will it be Adam or Denise? Or will it be Jeremy or Natalie? We are about to find out!
It is time for the Tribal Council! The castaways from Sele come in and light their torches and have a seat. They all talk about the pace of the game is so much faster this time around. Rob tells Jeff that once they landed on the beach, there were people who walked off and disappeared. Denise admits that she and Adam were gone really long, but she tells everyone that she and Adam went to look for the water well and got lost. No one is buying that. While they are all answering questions for Jeff, Ben and Jeremy start thinking that Rob and Parvati set something in motion. It is time to vote!
Jeff tallies the votes and tells everyone if they have a hidden immunity idol, now is the time to use it. No one plays one, so the votes are read. Here are the votes:
- Denise
- Adam
- Denise
- Natalie
- Natalie
- Natalie
- Natalie
- Natalie
With five votes, that’s enough to send Natalie to the EOE! Natalie gives her token to Jeremy on her way to EOE. When Natalie gets to the EOE, she finds out that while she is there, she will collect fire token which will be used to earn her way back into the game. If she doesn’t want to continue to fight for a chance back into the game, she can raise her seal and the boat will take her home.
Back at Dakal, Sandra is still really bothered by Rob lying to her. He told her for the 36 days they spent on IOI that he would never come back and play this game. She is talking to Yul about taking that out on Amber if given the opportunity. Yul goes back to talk to Nick and Wendell about what Sandra has told him. Wendell thinks it’s great that no one suspects that the three of them are working together.
Michele and Ben go off talking about the Tribal from the night before. The talks turn to how Rob is running the show and they aren’t okay with that at all. Jeremy received the fire token that Natalie left for her. We then get a look at Natalie finding out that she can use fire tokens to buy things on the EOE. One token gets her an advantage, three gets her an idol with full power, and then there was a list of foods and drinks that she can also buy them. She then finds out that her first opportunity to get some fire tokens is now. She is told to go to the last place she can see the sunset. When she gets there, she finds an immunity idol and a note. The note says that the idol has no value on EOE, but she can sell it to any castaway on a losing tribe for one fire token.
It is time for the second Immunity Challenge of the night! In this challenge, they will have to paddle out to get a bag of number tiles, they will then use those tiles to release three rings which they will throw onto three paddles. The first tribe to finish this will win immunity, the losers will go to Tribal Council. Dakal has one extra person and they choose to have Sandra sit out.
Dakal is the first tribe to get to shore with their number tiles, meanwhile, Rob is single-handedly launching his tribemates over an obstacle in order to get to the shore. Once Sele gets all their tribemates on the beach, Yul gets the combination on their rings. Dakal gets one ring while Adam tries to figure out their combination. Adam gets it and Jeremy gets their first ring, Jeremy then gets their second ring and their third! Sele wins Immunity which will send Dakal to Tribal Council.
Back at camp, Dakal is talking about who they should be voting out tonight. Sandra’s name is out there a lot along with Nick, but on the other side, Amber and Tyson are being talked about also. What they don’t know is that Natalie sold her Hidden Immunity Idol to Sandra which means she is safe tonight, unless they make her feel really safe before the vote. Sandra hears Tony’s name and runs back to Tony to tell him. Tony then tells everyone that they all need to vote out Tyson. Kim starts to get pretty paranoid also and no one is helping with that because every time she walks over to a talking group, they instantly stop talking. Kim thinks that Tyson, Amber and herself are in the biggest trouble at tonight’s Tribal Council. What do you think?
It is time for the second Tribal Council of the night! The castaways come in and grab their torches and light them before sitting down. They all talk about how different the game is now than it was when Amber first played the game. They then start talking about how everyone is feeling going into their first Tribal Council. Talks turn to the many relationships within this tribe. After a pretty tense conversation, the castaways cast their votes!
Jeff tallies the votes and tells the castaways that if anyone has a hidden immunity idol now would be the time to use it. Sandra does not play her idol and here are the votes:
- Nick
- Kim
- Kim
- Kim
- Amber
- Amber
- Amber
- Amber
- Amber
With five votes, Amber is the second person to head to Edge of Extinction. Before heading to the island, she chooses to give her fire token to Rob. Make sure you come back next week to find out what happens with Amber joins Natalie on the EOE!
